St Anthonys played their first competitive game of the season last saturday against Garyowen in the Mcardle Cup. unfortunately the game ended in a loss for the reading side on a final score of 3-05 to 1-03 Travel chaos on the M4 and Londons north circular ensured a two and a half hour journey for most of the team. the game kicked off 45 minutes late with no time forthe boys in blue to even warm up. due to a fixture scheduled for 1730 ther referee only played 20 min in each half. The game itself was of fairly poor fair much what you would expect at this time of the year. St Anthonys started the brighter but squandered chances for scores. once Garyowen came into the game they started scoring and by halftime they were ahead by 2-02 to 0-01. At half time three more players arrived from the traffic gridlock an their introduction made a difference as the flow of ball to the Garyowen forwards slowed down . Kris Mc quillan grabbed himself a goal in betwwen some fine scores by the Garyowen side. in the end Garyowen's senior experience showed espeacially when it came to getting scores. next game is against Clan Na Gael in Jubilee park at 1600 on the 19th |
